A number of Afghans living in Washington, D.C., marched near the US Congress building in the city to show their support for the Popular Resistance Front against the Taliban. Protesters say they stand for support for freedom, equality and human rights, especially women's rights in Afghanistan.

Regarding the situation in Afghanistan, Indian Foreign Minister Jay Shanker said it was time for the international community to come together and work for their common interests. An introduction ceremony for the Taliban government is scheduled to take place in Kabul in the coming days. India has not yet openly opposed the Taliban's takeover of Kabul.
