European Union: The Taliban did not live up to their promises to form an inclusive government

Following the announcement of members of the new Taliban government in Afghanistan, Pakistan offered to invite them to a regional summit with Pakistan, China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Turkmenistan.

Reacting to the announcement of the names of the Taliban interim government, a spokesman for the British Prime Minister said that Britain wanted to see a diverse government in Afghanistan, but that the Taliban cabinet had not been announced.

German Foreign Minister Haiku Moss expressed concern about the composition of the cabinet of the new Taliban government in Afghanistan, saying that the arrangement, along with the non-participation of other groups in the government and violence against protesters and journalists, left no room for optimism.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a statement that more than any other country, the United States and its allies have a responsibility to help Afghanistan provide economic and humanitarian assistance. The statement said the aid should be done with respect for Afghanistan's independence
