US Secretary of Defense: The United States is safer than it was 20 years ago

Former United States President George W. Bush said at a memorial service marking the 20th anniversary of 9/11 that he was "concerned" about the future of the United States. He added that the days of unity among the American people after the 9/11 attacks "seem far away."

The Associated Press reports from satellite imagery that the United States has withdrawn its most advanced missile defense system (Todd) as well as the Patriot missile defense system from Saudi Arabia in recent weeks. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, has faced airstrikes by Yemeni Houthi militants.

The Israeli military says it has targeted a rocket launcher, a warehouse and a Hamas military complex in response to a rocket fired from Gaza. The Israeli military has insisted that Hamas is responsible for "all terrorist attacks" from Gaza

US Special Representative for Iran Robert Mali tweeted that he had "fruitful" meetings with EU officials and the three European member states of the UN Security Council in Paris on the future of the UN Security Council resumption talks and the importance of a speedy return to compliance.

Following the arrest of two of the six Palestinian security prisoners who escaped from an Israeli prison, Palestinians staged large-scale demonstrations in various parts of the West Bank, some of which led to violent clashes.
