Taliban operations commander in northeastern Afghanistan 'killed' in Panjshir war



In a meeting with Mullah Abdul Ghani Brother and Taliban officials in Kabul on Sunday, UNHCR Representative Martin Griffiths said he reaffirmed the organization's commitment to providing unbiased humanitarian assistance and supporting the millions in need in Afghanistan.

Earlier, a former member of the Afghan parliament had reported the bombing of Panjshir by Pakistani drones and smart bombs. Taliban spokesman Naeem Wardak denied the news.

Maulvi Fassihuddin, a senior Taliban commander and the group's chief of operations in northeastern Afghanistan, was killed in a battle with the Popular Resistance Front in Panjshir, according to a CBS correspondent.

Mohammad Alavi, director of the Khuzestan Health Center, said that the incidence of coronary heart disease in pregnant women has now tripled since last year, and that the number of pregnant women who have died of coronary heart disease has increased many times over the same period last year.
